A blog for Respublica Christiana: Christianity today is a Corinthian

Respublica Christiana is in its third edition. She wants a review of ideas showing the dynamism and daring intellectual traditionalist French in Paris. Dynamic, daring, these slogans were to lead us on the Internet. Tollinier Lawrence, who hosts the completion of the review, organize files, control items, today launched this new blog and he asked me a few words about the state of mind in which organized this new virtual adventure .

The Blog will be attached to the site of the Centre Saint-Paul. It will offer new perspectives, discussions with potential for paper publication, as we did for the last issue of the journal publishing the debate on Metablog Oskar Freisinger and a ban on minarets.

Our goal? Defend and illustrate today's Christianity. The liberalism and the bowels bougisme that goes with ideologies are the latest, remaining at the post-sixty-disaffection eighters. What is there after this? Again and again Christianity. We drummed into the ears with post-modernity and it is right: modernity was built against the western Christian tradition. But this tradition, nothing remains today. Sociologically Christendom has disappeared. But spiritually, it is the action in the great quest for meaning through the entrails of the human animal.

"Who knows if the reason for the existence of man would not be in existence Similarly, La Mettrie wrote in this little treatise he called eloquently: The man-machine. Maybe he was thrown at random from a point on the surface of the earth, without being able to know how or why, only that it must live and die, like those of fungi that appear day to another, or the flowers lining the ditches and cover the walls "(ed. Thousand and One Nights, p. 54)

In this perspective, no doubt, we still have to eat ...! "What power of a meal! exclaimed La Mettrie. The joy is reborn in a sad heart, it passes in the soul of the guests who express a kind of songs, where the French excel. The melancholy alone is overwhelmed, and human studies there is cleaner "(p. 25) ... But the normal man finds his salvation. In this perspective, it is true, there is no need blogs or journals: "Let not what we thought but what we should think for the rest of life" (p. 24).

With such principles, it is not surprising that La Mettrie (1709-1751), who was, apparently, the same kindness, died of indigestion after having reached their forties.

As for us, we know that "man does not live by bread alone", we understand instinctively that the bread is not an aim in itself but a means at the most. And that's what we want for our attention to "what is really worth," as Socrates says to Callicles at the end of the Gorgias.

The drama of the society in which we are, that it no longer makes the distinction between ends and means. We are in "the kingdom of means," as Marcel De Corte diverting the famous "Kingdom of ends" of Kant. We must seek, we must find purpose. Through
